Interview with Pascal Spohn from Arburg

Pascal Spohn spoke to us about the future of the elastomers industry ahead of his presentation at Silicone Elastomers World Summit 2018.

Q. Can you provide a summary of what your presentation will cover at the Silicone Elastomers World Summit in Milan?
The presentation will cover micro injection moulding in LSR technology. As the requirements for complete system solutions are becoming more important, customers want not only an injection moulding machine but complete turnkey solutions. I will talk about Arburg’s customised solutions and why micro components is an important field for further developments in the LSR sector.

Q. Why is this research important in the silicones industry at the moment?
Components made of LSR, especially in medical technology, are becoming smaller and more demanding so it’s an important development area.

Q.What are the main challenges that the industry is facing and how do you think that this conference can address them?
Personnel search for this industry and the delivery times of material, machine manufactures and upstream suppliers.

Q. What are you most looking forward to hearing about at the summit this year?
New LSR material, innovative solutions in mould technology.

Q. Why would you recommend the summit to colleagues? Why do you think it’s an important meeting?
You have the opportunity to discuss important issues with industry experts and meet interested parties from all over the world, so it´s a great platform for all working in silicones.
