SO.F.TER. develops new drinking water-suitable TPE

Italian compounder SO.F.TER. has announced a fresh development, a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) that is suitable for contact with drinking water.

Laprene 830.556 is a new development for extrusion and meets WRAS (BS 6920) norms. The material is a plasticizer-free compound characterised by high transparency and excellent flexibility.

Its properties are smooth, with a slippery surface that will work well with the flow of dirt and impurities that may be present in pipes and plumbing. Thanks to its special formulation, Laprene 830.556 provides an excellent antibacterial protection that can inhibit the growth of biofilms and bacteria, while it is suitable for adhesion on polypropylene.

Laprene 830.556, also available in the injection-molding version, has passed the stringent tests of the WRAS (BS 6920) norm and can be used for the production of flexible tubes for dishwashers or water dispensers, or in the tap and plumbing sector.
